Omikron^® detects noise generated by leaks in buried pipes. The leak noise travels through the water and pipe wall such that it can be detected by listening at valves or hydrants using the Omikron hand probe. The noise also propagates from the leak to the ground surface where the Omikron ground microphone can be used.

Sensitive

The Omikron hand probe and ground microphone incorporate sensor technology able to detect leak noise outside the normal range of the human ear. The ground microphone is mounted in a wind-proof housing of rugged, stainless steel construction.

A choice of three Omikron options are available:

α The alpha is a simple electronic hand probe together with the small ‘belt’ amplifier, headphones and extension rods.
γ The gamma system comprises ground microphone with an advanced amplifier which provides filtering and display of leak strength.
α+γ Combined alpha electronic leak hand probe together with the gamma system of ground microphone with the advanced amplifier unit.

Flexible

The leak signal from the hand probe in the alpha system is amplified by the belt amplifier. The leak signal from either the hand probe or the ground microphone can be amplified by the advanced amplifier. The belt amplifier is typically clipped to the user’s belt so leaving the hands free. The belt amplifier is a wide-band amplifier and is designed using low power, ultra low noise, analogue signal processing circuitry for optimum performance. The advanced amplifier unit has the addition of variable filters, visual noise indication (relative to the last measurement position), and 50/60Hz notch filters. The display is back-lit, giving clear, easy to read, results under all lighting conditions. A variable headphone gain control, with 10 segment LED bar-graph indicator, gives instant indication of signal strength. A ‘hold’ control freezes signal strength display for easy interpretation of results.

The C.Scope CS880 Metal Cover Locator has been designed specifically for the exacting requirements of the water industry and the groundworking contractor.

The CS880 is a low cost solution to the problem of finding lost or hidden metal objects in the ground. Typical targets will be manhole covers and stopcock boxes covered by tarmac or earth, steel reinforcement rods in concrete road surfaces, metal pipes, valve heads, and buried fuel tanks.

The C.Scope designed induction Balance operating system provides maximum sensitivity to solid metal objects whilst ignoring the small metal clutter which causes false signals in cheap inferior metal detectors. A 'target-hold' facility enables the operator to trace out the shape and size of the located object - less time wasted uncovering the wrong target!
